If you found yourself here, it is because you have a thirst to learn a beautiful language. As Spanish is one of most widely spoken Romantic Languages which include French, Italian, Portuguese --and, if you want to be finicky about it, Romanian as well.

You might have heard the language, fallen in love with the culture or both. Either way you are in the right place. The group has been slow for a bit, but it is now, as of March 1st 2008 under new management. Or actually, to be exact, back under *old management* as I used to run the group a while ago. Go figure.

We are going to try different things Spanish, however at the core of it all we are going to have our Socials which focus on only using the Spanish language as your only means of communication. They are great fun way to chat and socialize and for many, like myself, a refresher. However for the record, although raw nuggets are welcome, truth me told, you will benefit more of the group if you are at least beginner/intermediate.

If you are new to the language and culture and feel a bit shy, don't worry, we all started that way. What matters is your commitment to immersing yourself. That in itself is worth a lot. I will try hosting a few Socials a few times a month as scheduling allows in order to keep the momentum going. The locations may change from the focus will not.

In the group you will find some individuals who are native speakers, intermediate and beginners. It is only natural the latter might feel a bit out of their element but with practice comes understanding. I would also suggest, if I may, that you might try watching some Spanish TV, pickup the odd newspaper or magazine, anything that keeps you in that frame of mind. On a personal note, that is what I try to do with my French which I am in the process of picking up. In fact, I have gone as far as changing my banking to French! So either I learn the language or I might end up paying someone else's cable bill. It is quite the incentive!

So, without any further ado, let's speak Spanish!
